2008: a fandom year in review
I wish you all a happy new year! Have a fantastic 2009, filled with love, happiness, and positive things! See you all next year!

Fics (1k+) posted: 32 (HP: 3 gen, 7 het, 1 femmeslash, 14 slash; SPN: 4 Sam/Dean, 1 gen; RPS: 1 J2; crossovers: 1 RPS/SPN)
Word Count: 100,229 *boggles* (plus ~55k of unfinished fic on my harddrive)
App. word count per fic: 3,132 (it's increasing!)

Favorite story this year: Jaded (Draco/Fenrir) because of Fenrir's voice, Wordlessly (coming down to land tonight) because it just sits so close to my heart.
Best story this year: His Own Sun (James/Sirius) is exactly what I wanted it to be; Obey (Lucius/Regulus) because of the timeline.
Most underappreciated by the universe: fly up high and burn the sky (Bella gen) and Wordlessly
Most fun story: Oh, I think that might have been Worlds on Fire (Harry/Romilda). I mean, see pairing!
Sexiest story: Probably Worlds on Fire. A honorary mention goes to Inebriation (Lily/Sirius, Regulus/Sirius). That shower!sex scene with Regulus and Sirius? Yup, I think that one served its purpose *g*
"Holy crap, that's wrong even for you": Well, as opposed to last year I did write more questionable fic this year - but Red Sun Rising (Bellatrix gen) probably takes the cake of wrongness.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Small Crimes (Bill/Percy, Bill/Charlie) was the first fic where I exclusively paid attention to Weasleys and sibling dynamics. Since then, the oldest three Weasleys have been added to the characters I love writing about, because they are so clear in my head.
Hardest story to write: Wordlessly - it took me half a year to finish it.
Biggest disappointment: Torn Asunder (Padma/Voldemort) - it's not a bad story, per sé, but it didn't come together the way I wanted it to.
Biggest surprise: His Own Sun, because the response I got was simply overwhelming. Enslaved (Remus/Severus) suprises me still just by existing - and I mean that in a positive, if unbelieving way.
Story I want remembered: His Own Sun and Obey.
Story I didn't think I'd write: Going Forward (Moving Backwards) (Bellatrix/Narcissa) - I didn't know I'd ever write femmeslash. At Dawn (The Twilight Prevails) (Hermione/Severus) is something of which I'd had the ending in mind for some time, and constructing a backstory for it is something I never thought I'd get to do as well.

Overall, I'm very pleased with myself for this outcome. No month passed without me posting fic, and I do actually feel like I've grown as a writer over the past year, which is nice. I still see my failings, of course, but I've been trying to work on them (sometimes with good results, sometimes with less than good results), and I think my strengths have been manifesting. I got invited to [info]erotic_elves and [info]daily_deviant, both of which I found overwhelming. I feel like I can go out of this year with a positive feeling when it comes to writing, which is very nice :) Therefore, my writing resolutions for 2009 are unspectacular - to keep working like this and to maybe see if I can write more involved and complex stories.
