fic pointer and CACIB (dog show) in Rostock
Shadows in Light and Dark. Narcissa-centric genfic, featuring Andromeda, Bellatrix, Lucius, Harry, VOldemort and Draco. Rated R for some sneaky sexual themes. In times of war everyone has to choose sides. In the aftermath it might not be the one you would have seen yourself leaning to previously, but the intuitive decision of the moment, drawn from a mix of hope and desperation, often has a way of being the ultimately right one. This is totally my personal Narcissa canon.
My last couple of weeks were quite... eventful, I should say. Especially the weekend, when I went to Rostock with a friend to show her Azawakh bitch in a... show.
You see, Tigidit Ineni (eleven months old now) has a wonderful body (said various judges), but her colour... does not exactly match the German "race standard". So there's currently a war going on in the German sighthound club, about what's allowed and what's not. Quite complicated, that.
Anyway, what happened on Saturday? P showed her dog. There were only two other Azawakhs there, both from Aulad al Sahra's, who do a lot of inbreeding with their dogs which I don't know whether it's exactly healthy. Anyway; Ineni made "youth winner", even though she only got "sg" (very good) - because of her colour, naturally. She'd been awarded a "vv" (very excellent or some such) before, but not this time :( The judge said she was actually the better dog of the two young ones there, but yeah. The colour. Still, she made youth winner of the bitches, so that's something.
I'm sure this'll have interesting consequences despite her low... ah, grade. Heh.
We spent the afternoon at the beach of the Baltic Sea, which was quite awesome. Hadn't been there in so long! Ineni didn't know me (I've only seen her two times, now), and the previous time she barked at me all the time. On Saturday I was allowed to play with her and Paco, which was awesomeness :) Not allowed to touch her yet, but that'll come. She's SO VERY SENSITIVE - much more than my and P's Azawakh bitch who died a year ago, who was sensitive but not THAT complicated. I won't compare the two, though, as they're completely different kinds of dogs.
Sunday was spent at a horse day in the village where the stud I'm riding at is located. I did pony riding for children, and I walked 5.5 hours (!). I love working with animals and children at the same time, so it wasn't too bad, but... my feet hurt. MAJORLY.
That's some of what happened. Not all of it - some of it I still have to figure out - but that which stands out most.
