have recs: art + snupin_santa
My spreadsheet tells me I've read 75% of the posts in five different holiday exchanges. harry_holidays, hp_holidaygen, [info]merry_smutmas, [info]smutty_claus and [info]snupin_santa. Which doesn't mean it's actually 75% of the word count; I haven't read the three SnuSa stories that are 33k of words or more (!). Which means I'm about, oh, 130k behind? :D

Today I bring you art recs and [info]snupin_santa recs.

[Fic] The Blood-Dimmed Tide by Anon for [info]snupin_santa, rated PG-13. Summary: An exploration of how events might have unfolded if Remus had been Sorted into Slytherin, told in a series of vignettes.

I love stories that use a scenic style, and that particular style works so incredibly well with this story. It seems much longer than the 4000 words it actually counts; the author manages to create a whole universe in so few words. I love how she changes so many small things. The set-up and reasoning for Remus' different Sorting are very well chosen, and I love how all that we know of the Marauders era is twisted around. It's all there, but it's different, and really every question I could think of was answered. And if I begin to analyse this more in-depth I think I'll tell you the story from first to last, because IMO it really is that great. :)

[Fic] Remedy by Anon for [info]snupin_santa, rated R. Summary: Maturity is a bitter disappointment for which no remedy exists, unless laughter can be said to remedy anything. -Kurt Vonnegut

This story covers the first war era, of which we only know little. But what we do know this author beautifully works into her story. This isn't strictly genre-conform, there's a litte bit of everything - humour, a touch of darkness, romance, and it's so well-executed and makes for such a satisfying read that I couldn't have stopped reading even if I had to. Such a great kick-off for the fest! :)

[Fic] A jug of wine, and thou beside me in the wilderness by Anon for [info]snupin_santa, rated PG-13. Summary: AU after the first war - Severus escapes to France and the Muggle world, but he finds there are some things you can never leave behind.

This has a very original, very well-executed plot - after the first war ends Severus goes to work with his family in France. Of course, they take Remus in, too. It has touches of romance and mystery, and I love how it's all interwoven - reading this fic made me feel all warm inside, but it doesn't deny the darker things that have happened, either. Just all-around very satisfying!

[Art] Handy Work (Harry/Severus) by Anon (ahaha :D) for harry_holidays, rated NC-17. Warns for spanking.

I love the colouring (esp. Harry's cock and his ass), and pay attention to the potions bottles when you look, okay?

[Art] You Can't Escape (Remus/Severus) by Anon (ahaha the second :D) for harry_holidays, rated G.

RAWR their positions are lovely. Remus' expression is awesome, and Severus slumped against the tree... I also can't stop staring at his jaw for whatever reason.

[Art] untitled Hermione/Luna by Anon for [info]merry_smutmas, rated R.

I adore this artwork. It just flows so beautifully, which IMO fits this particular pairing so very well. I love love love the dream-like feel surrounding this, it makes me unable to stop staring.

[Art] Can't Resist Those Potters (James Jr./Teddy) by Anon for [info]merry_smutmas, rated R.

Recced all over the place, but for a reason, people. Go. Look. NOW! *ded*

[Art] The Christmas Feast (Harry/Remus/Sirius) by Anon for [info]merry_smutmas, rated NC-17.

Another one that's been recced all over the place. Just. GUH. *drools* *speechless*

That's it for now. Other recs are sure to follow soon :)

Also, if you enjoy any of these please don't forget to leave the authors and artists some much-welcomed feedback :)

Yay, recs :) I'm totally with you on the "Can't Resist Those Potters" and most of the other art as well :)
As for me, I've had a look at least at every [info]hd_holidays fic, have liked a few, disliked a few... the way it goes. As of now, though, nothing can quite measure up to The Price We Pay For Wings, which. I'm still in a strange mood because of it.
Keep up the recs, I'm looking forward to the rec of that one genfic you told me about and lots of other nice stuff!

Yeah well, not everything can be brilliant, so... :)

There are actually two genfic recs now! I'll post them soon because I have six more to-rec stories marked on my spreadsheet. And I need to read two or three more stories tonight. *headdesk* I think I hate December.

Yay for recs! I have given up on trying to follow holiday exchanges so I trust solely on recs when it comes to them ^^

... Which probably is much more condusive to your sanity. I'm lucky I have such a long way to work, as it allows me to print out fic and read it :) My recs seem to be rather Snupin-centric at the moment, but I promise there'll be others. Any kind of fic in particular that you're looking for?

Er, good fic? ^^

:P

(Not really. Can't think of a style, and pairings just don't matter that much.)

I have a spreadsheet for how much I write per day. I have a spreadsheet for how many pages of what book I read per day. So of course I have a spreadsheet for which fest fics I've read and which I need to read and which I want to rec etc. etc. :D What can I say, I'm a stats whore.
