short review: My Blueberry Nights
So, last night I went to see My Blueberry Nights because a friend requested we do so, and we all know I live to serve, right?

I didn't expect too much because all I heard was "entertaining, but nothing more". Which was quite alright with me; I needed some time to relax.

Well, in the end I'll have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I can't say I cared much for the main story arc or Norah Jones' acting, but.

I was enraptured by the "subplots". Arnie and his wife? Man, that was awesome; so achy, so broken, so lost, just the way I like things. I was constantly thinking about what could have driven Arnie to drinking, and even though I would have liked it open to interpretation I did like the solution of the "riddle" - why his wife left him. Leslie and her father? Pretty much the same. I loved how she tried to take away Elizabeth's innocence and naivité, but she wouldn't let her take it. Also, femmeslash ahoy. *cough*

I loved many of the shots; how the story didn't go forward in chronological order. And of course Jude Law. Jesus, that man is lickable. Also, beautiful. In every scene with Norah Jones he carried the mood; this quiet longing speaking from his every action touched me. Also, hot. What? No, I totally wasn't drooling.

So! In short it was definitely a very enjoyable movie which hit many of the things I like. It won't have any lasting impact, that's true - because for that the framing plot wasn't strong enough for me personally - but, different from what I thought, it did get me thinking.
