Looks like I'm sick again (cold this time), so I'm doing this meme everyone's doing at the moment. I think it's actually as accurate as can be.

You rarely get angry and it takes a lot to make you angry, however you experience panic, confusion, and helplessness when under pressure or stress. You get overwhelmed by too much noise and commotion and do not like thrill-seeking activities. You are a moderately imaginative person who enjoys a good balance between the real world and fantasy. You find helping other people genuinely rewarding and are generally willing to assist those who are in need. You find that doing things for others is a form of self-fulfillment rather than self-sacrifice, however you generally see others as selfish, devious, and sometimes potentially dangerous. You are not an overly cautious person. You will think about alternatives and consequences but make up your mind fairly quickly.

Thank you *clings* I really need to be up tomorrow because my horse isn't going to ride itself. Meh for my immune system! :(

Eek. Can't somebody put it in the paddock? God, I know the feeling... I can't count the number of times I've gone riding with flu, open wounds, broken toes, colds the least of it. Damned horses!

Oh, he's going on the paddock every day, but that's not enough work for him. He's very lively! I don't want to go back on Monday (if I'm feeling better) or Wednesday and find him all riled up. That would be way less fun than working him a little tomorrow.

Heh, I've once jumped a whole training session with my (unknown to me) broken collarbone. It was shortly before a tournament, so it was one of the last training sessions I'd be having.

Damned horses indeed! Just why do we love them so much?

Because we're fools who have too little money and the ones we have we spend on hay?

I was looking at foals today, and I don't think I am able to reach New year without having bought a new horse. I try not to. Honestly!

Yours is... a Trakhener, right? No wonder it's a bit perky, then.

Actually, "my" horse is not my horse at all - I don't have the money. I just ride him, but, y'know, he's as good as my own. I do spend all my money on him - and if worst comes to worst and my stable has to close, I just might buy him for real. And no, he's not a Trakehner (the other horse I was riding along with him two years ago was), he's a Hanoverian. The Trakehner was actually the most work-willing, easy horse I've ever known. :D What can I say, every encounter I've had with a Trakehner was beautiful! If I don't buy Peppo I'd immediately go on the look-out for a Trakehner. I adore them :)

And yay for buying a new horse! I remember a conversation we had one and half a year ago (...what can I say, my memory can be quite unnormal when it comes to dates) after my Azawakh had died. I think you said you had neither dogs nor horses anymore?

I am with you re: Trakehner. I had one which was 3/4 and 1/4 New Forest, and it was one of the most willing horses I've ever had. We won the DK hunting championship, went fourth in DK dressage championships and won four races at the racetrack. It went with me when I turned 17 to compete in horse classes and did well, if not that well.

Hanovarians are lovely, I rode one quite frequently before I got my first pony and it was the nicest horse ever.

Yeah, we had - and I don't. It's bloody hard to live without any animals at all, and I miss it so much. I've just not been able to afford any, and still can't. But hopefully at the end of the year.

You did get another Azawakh, right?

Oh wow, looks like you've had lots of success with your horses! Wow. *stares in admiration*

Isn't there a chance that you do it like I do - find a horse-owner with not enough time and ride their horse? I haven't had a problem with it so far like, at all. I was riding the Trakehner and Peppo all alone - no one else to do something "bad" to the two of them.

And I hear you when you say you miss your animals... I didn't get a new Azawakh after Safi's death. My friend (owner of the Trakehner and the other owner-half of the dogs) bought a new Azawakh, but I... couldn't. I just fell into such a huge hole after Safi's death that I didn't do much for roughly half a year. By now I really want a dog again, but I know that in my situation it's impossible. :(

*hugs* I so understand you. The loss of an animal can leave such a dark vacuum that one can't see how it can ever be filled.

Heh, this was ages ago, and the competition wasn't that hard. Well... in hunting it was, but still...

I've had my own horses for more than thirty years, and there is no way I am going to put up with incompetent idiots and their ruined horses, and not even the competent ones with nice horses. That was the diplomatic version. Also, I prefer breeds that are rather rare here, so even if I wanted to, I couldn't. I like having the horse before anybody has been doing any work with it, preferably from they are around 1-2 years at the latest. If it's going to be ruined I'd damned well like to do it myself. ;0)

My way, or the highway. I'm stubborn.

Oh, I can understand you. The Trakehner? He was 17, hadn't been ridden well in over three or four years. But I must say that working with him and getting him to the level where I could have started him in dressage competition was a very rewarding experience.

If it's going to be ruined I'd damned well like to do it myself.

Oh, I hear you about this! I wish I was in a situation where I could train my horses from scratch... Well, I could ride a pony that doesn't really have any training, but aaaah, she's a pony. I've never ridden ponies. *is stubborn like that*

What breeds would you want?

but aaaah, she's a pony. I've never ridden ponies...

Hah, anything larger than 1,53-1,55 is too large for me. Also, the larger horses don't fit my purpose...

PRE, Welsh D, Knapstrupper, Frederiksborger, Lusitano, Lippizan or Berb. Could live with a large Fjord, they are such fun, but won't do any good in the medieval shows. So I'm quite picky, as you see...

I feel best on a horse of ~1,70-1,75. Peppo is roughly 1,60 - it feels so funny! But he has great movements, so it doesn't much matter - I have enough to do with trying to sit him out, I don't want to think about how it would be if he were larger.

You want a baroque horse! I've never ridden one, but I'd love to. And you're doing medieval shows! Whee! That is so awesome. In my stable most of the people are doing show-jumping and looked down at me when I said I wanted to do dressage :( Not that they're hostile or anything like that, but that's the main focus of our stable. Though with Peppo I'm thinking about starting jumping again...

Funny how people want those gigantic horses... well, not my problem. ;) But great that your little one is good, just proves size doesn't always matter.

I've taught academic/classical dressage since... er- 1993, so yes. I did shows before, and it was quite a disaster I lost my old horse three years ago, since she was almost done with her basic training, piaffe and terre-a-terre and already on her way to the aires above ground. So... I have to start over again, and might have the horse on that level maybe ten years from now. *sighs*
