Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:horses, recs: hp, rl

3 art recs + 3 fic recs + some RL = x (who can tell me the solution of this equation?)
Yesterday I was on a tournament all day, helping a friend of mine with her horse and talking her out of irrational bouts of angst and stuff like that. I was up at 4:45AM and I swear I didn't sleep for more than three hours. It wasn't so bad, though, except I crashed on the way back to the stable in the car (around 4PM), and after that I would have been pretty much dead to the world if it hadn't been for coffee. Once I was home, at 7PM, I should have worked on various things that I promised various people, but I didn't. I crashed again around 8 and woke up at 7 today. At least I had the presence of mind to make my cell wake me not too late, because as I said, there are various things to be worked on.

[info]pervy_werewolf recs:

[fic] I'm excited to be working on [info]snapelike's LMoM story! The story so far is addictive, and I can't wait to see more. Dark-ish Snupin - be aware of the heavy NC-17 rating.

The Diary of a Death Eater Whore

[art] [info]karasu_hime is doing (Snupin) art for LMoM this year again, which has me incredibly happy. So gorgeous all around!

Karasu's p_w tag

[art] [info]ponderosa121 is doing LMoM, too! Her pieces - each with a different pairing - have been a treat each so far. Her work is simply beautiful.

[info]snarry_games recs; I haven't even read half of the Games' entries yet, but I'm planning on playing catch-up. Have the two outstanding fics I've read so far:

[fic] [info]perfica's Come Out Of The West (rated R) is gorgeous from first to last. It's an Alternate Reality fic set, for the most part, in a hospital. Its structure gave me an orgasm, and I love her portrayal of Harry and Severus. There's this kind of atmosphere surrounding this fic that makes me hold my breath. Believable set-up, intense writing, and great characterisation - what more does one want?

[fic] [info]josan's One Down, Two Across (rated NC-17, beware of warnings) is 22,000+ words of magnificence. So original, so intense, so stunning. This fic may not be a classical, sexual Snarry, but from the beginning it is clear that the relationship between the two will be the driving force of the story. From the first part, the puzzle, to the second part, the solution, this fic is breath-taking. This world completely captures you and takes you hostage, willingly until the end, and even then you want to stay with this story. It's a Stockholm Syndrome you'll develop for sure!

---

Aaand then there already is a piece to rec from this month's [info]lupin_snape challenge: the Darkside Challenge!

[art] [info]ships_harry's Nine tenths is simply beautiful. The contrasts work amazingly, and the blue/white tinge makes for a real sharp image. And then the words that accompany the picture... Wow. This artist always makes me want to write for her art as it's a story she draws, but I don't think words could ever capture the often chilling atmosphere of her art.

You just totally gave me squee :D.

Omigod, if you ever do want to write something, please do! Even if I've already written something for it :D. I think it'd be really interesting to see different interpretations of the story in a picture.

I'm not up to date with either the Pervy Werewolf or the Snarry Games, but yay recs! They'll make it easier to pick what to read/view first :).

[info]ponderosa121's stuff always gives me glee from the gorgeous, even the disturbing stuff.

Plus, meep "crashed in the car" sounds a lot more serious until you read the rest of the paragraph!

LMAO, that's true. Sorry 'bout that! See, I was still so tired when I posted this that I didn't think about anything like that! *is now too lazy to change*

At least four pieces of yours come to mind that are so atmospheric (and have stuck with me!) I want to write them so. Badly. I don't know if I can do it because often it's a feeling or impression that accompanies your art, not an immediate set-up, but since you've given me a free ticket... :D

I'm so behind on both, too! Especially now since [info]hp_wankfest and [info]hpdesmutathon are posting as well, and I have stories in both, so I try to review in those fests. I'm just glad I'm not following the HD Worldcup, as that would totally kill me, OMG. I don't even want to think about that.

My pleasure! Really, you don't have to feel like you're supposed to thank me or anything - I hadn't been familiar with your writing before (I'm not so much of a Snarry 'shipper, just a sometimes-reader), so I'm really glad I got the opportunity to discover you :)

We in the Snarry community are very polite ;-)

Wow, if you've just started reading in this field, there's a lot of classics to look forward to! There's quite a few lists around that will help you narrow down the field of five plus years. I don't have many recs in my journal, just links to my own stories.

I started reading Snarry last year in time for the Games (though I managed maybe a third of all that was posted), and really, the Games are the only time I really read the pairing. I don't know why, but... I'm not a 'shipper of any pairing. My tastes are very varied; maybe not exactly genre-wise, but character- and pairing-wise. Which means that at any given time I have approximately 40 tabs open with fics I think worth reading, in two-and-a-half fandoms no less. I've read the one or other Snarry 'classic', but I'm not planning on playing catch-up there. I'd rather support my beloved rarepairs ;)
