No snupin_santa. No smutty_claus. No snapelyholidays. No other exchanges that might look tempting. I'm not sure I'll even manage femgenficathon, as no suitable plotbunny has come up yet. Challenges will be considered on a case-by-case basis, so I'm not going to say YAY or NAY to them just yet - I know a few will come up this year that I'd be sorely tempted by.

At any rate, I might do some pinch-hitting, if the mood strikes me and I've actually managed to finished some of those projects. I don't think I'll have all of them posted when the new year rolls 'round, but I can dream, right?

I just wanted to say this in a public post so that if I so much as flirt with an exchange, hopefully someone will remember this and strike me unconscious. Or something.

My biggest problem is certainly sentence structure (y'know, that has something to do with not being a native), but I'd like help beyond that, too - characterisation, structure, flow, continuity. And in the latter case, sense-making.

In other words, I seem to have finished the first draft of my hp_wankfest story. I'm also in the plotting stage of a freak-ish Snupin non-magical AU fic that's been driving me crazy. I'm afraid to touch it, but whatever. I gotta do it or sleeping will become even more of a non-word for me.

wizard_love is, right now, the only fest I've participated in twice, and there's a reason for that. I love het fests - mainly because slash gets so much more notice and I'm all *puppy eyes* But what about the het???, heh.


Anyway. I've defriended some people over on LJ - those who I noticed post the same there as here, or only link to posts over there. Feel free to do the same with me, as I only post monthly fic round-ups on LJ. If I made a mistake by defriending you please to be telling me!

On a more positive note I'm home sick the entire week, which means my wizard_love fic actually has a chance of being finished before the deadline. Whee.

I've been meaning to do an all-thinky post about, oh, my view on the Lily/Severus business, some thoughts on plot in relation to minisinoo's post, Severus & the Marauders, Bill and Charlie... or simply talking about my newly revealed fest fics.

But sometimes RL gets in the way. In the form of ice on the pavement. Trying to walk on ice on the pavement can end badly. Like, you falling on your tailbone so hard you think you might consider going to the emergency room, because OW!!! does not even begin to cover it. Of course I could not be bothered to go to the ER, instead spent half the day working with the horses and the other half in bed, and I went to work today and did not go to the doctor again, which, possibly not very intelligent. Because:

OW.

And my horoscope for 2008 said I'd have a superb year. Somehow I don't really see that yet >.>

My spreadsheet tells me I've read 75% of the posts in five different holiday exchanges. harry_holidays, hp_holidaygen, merry_smutmas, smutty_claus and snupin_santa. Which doesn't mean it's actually 75% of the word count; I haven't read the three SnuSa stories that are 33k of words or more (!). Which means I'm about, oh, 130k behind? :D

RL is happening - my uncle's in hospital because the meds for his schizophrenia aren't working, and well. He's got kids and my aunt has work, so I'll have to help them out when I can. Hopefully my uncle will be back home for the "actual" Christmas time...

Aside from that - as everyone else has already said: Don't expect anything around here in December except for recs. God I'm so freaking excited! And, naturally, later in the months, the Christmas fics I offered. Make sure to watch envinyatar_fics for them, yeah?

Last week I had a stomach bug that had me shaking for a couple of days, now I have an infected wound in my foot. Good lord, this is a terrible time.

At least I'm home (and on antibiotics) and can finish my smutty_claus fic... Because snupin_santa is pwned! *dances*

Huh. I have 20,000 words of finished ficcage lying around. That's... um. Er. Kinda much, for me? But I'm finally halfway done with the exchanges. (Mind you, those 20k are not spent on a single fic.)

I've been reading a whole lot of Supernatural fic these past ten days since I've been lured into it, and I'm asking you: why are at least 99% (judging from what I've read so far) of the fic in that fandom - SPN and related RPS - written in present tense? Not that I mind in the least because that tense, IMO, adds a kind of quiet intensity and/or urgency and/or sarcasm and/or deadpan voice, all of which I seriously adore, but. It's seriously troubling me. HP fic is probably 75% past tense or some such, which, granted, is probably because the book series it's based on is written in past tense and the "common" tense in novel-writing seems to be past tense (I'd kill for more published novels in present tense and/or more experimental technique of storytelling, like, say, The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides, or When I Was Five I Killed Myself by Howard Buten). Anyway. All I'm saying it's a real difference there, not that I mind it.

I'm also contemplating which exchanges I'm going to actively follow in December. I've come up with:

Occasionally devoured will be snarry_holidays. And I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple or so.

Does that strike anyone as too much? *sigh* I'll really have to clear my December schedule... And all what I want posted this year (apart from my fic offer, and you can still request a ficlet from me a few entries down) will have to be posted by November 30, because there's going to be enough reading (and viewing!) material in December. That leaves a less over three weeks to write write write edit edit edit and post post post. Uh-oh.

I GOT A NEW JOB!!!

I'll be working with an association that mainly has social projects and deals with psychologically ill people. And I'll have the job until next year, which is pretty awesome - especially since I'll have a lot of chances/possibilities there... I can practically choose what I'd like to do and do it. Might also be able to do hippotherapy...! *squee*

Heroes is Very Amazing as usual. The only thing that bugs me is that a lot of you can watch the new episode on Mondays. I only have it on Wednesdays :( Actually Heroes has begun airing on German TV last week, and I watched about a couple of minutes of it and decided it was awful. Funny how just the language can change the perception, no?

Supernatural has also begun airing here. That's one of the shows I'm not following already, and I don't see me doing so in the foreseeable future either. I don't know, the premise doesn't intrigue me that much. I'd probably try to get my hands on it if I weren't downloading due South at the moment, but this way...

Fandom-related: sexy_brilliance's masterlist is up. I'm so happy about this year's fest - it was SO relaxed! I never thought running an exchange could actually be that, though I'm still glad it's over, as it gives me time to finally write.

FYI - I'm probably going to be rather quiet the next couple of weeks or so. My dog died September 30, 2006, and along with her death I lost most of what was important in my life. So, I'll be around, but... probably not really.

I'm finally putting the finishing touches to my femgenficathon fic. I had to start over because my original idea wasn't working out the way I wanted it to; or rather, the content is exactly what I want it to say, but the writing style of that one isn't really to my satisfaction - more resembling 20 Random Facts in fic style. So something new it was, and it's short but I kinda like it. Not loving it, but I don't really expect that at the moment. Meh.

I received my smutty_claus assignment, and the bunny is already fervently biting. Can't wait to start working on it!

Oh, and is there someone who feels up to beta'ing a Bella/Draco fic?
